Fibroid Surgery Questions?
Best answer:
I was scheduled for a fibroid removal, ended up having my uterus removed (not my ovaries, thank God). Sometimes doctors don't know what they will find until they are there. I already had 3 kids when they did this, and it was some 5 years ago, now they have a lot of not so traumatic options available, (UFE) when they cautherize blood supply to the fibroid, making it "die" on its own, freezing or myomectomy (surgically removing them).
You do not tell which method they are using on you, so i cannot help much there. In any case, you must follow the procedure as your doctor tells you to, avoid having sex when and for how long he tells you to and follow every instruction as told.
Remember this, ASK as much as you want, your doctor is there not just to help but to inform you as well.Hi there...

I had hysteroscopy with D&C a couple of times to remove both fibroids and polyps from my uterus in the past. I was asleep during the surgery, and had some cramping for a while afterwards, lasting only for a couple of hours, off and on. The bleeding wasn't too heavy for me, it lasted for about 3-4 days... again, off and on.

Sex was out of the question until after the post-op... at least it was for me.
I recovered rather quickly after the operations. Having fibroid removal done was a lot easier than the two emergency c/sections I've had, that's for sure!

I wish you all the best! Thanks for asking this question. I have a fibroid tumor that is getting bigger and bigger by the month. I look as if I am 2 to 3 months pregnant, it is such an embarassment. I would like to have surgery but cannot aford it. Can you shrink the fibroid by avoiding certain foods such as dairy and meats??Hi, I had the same situation as you and I had C-section surgery done on February 2005. I had many big fibroids and there was no option of embolization.

The fibroids were so many and so big that my doctor suggested 4 shots of luprone injection to reduce the size of them so that she could avoid the chance of removing the whole uterus. I was only 24 and single. So she was very concerned.

After that I had my surgery by full anesthesia. The surgery took around 4 hours. Doctors removed 28 fibroids and some part of the uterus, but thank God, they could save my uterus.

2nd day after the surgery was bit painful. When I had my sense I felt fever and vomit as the effect of the anesthesia. But doctor said it will gone by 24 hours.

I had cathedrae for 3 days after the surgery. Nurses would wash my body and make me move a bit. Doctor said its good to move after the surgery, it helps to heel faster. At the 3rd day the removed my cathedrae and gave me some liquid food. Then I started to walk slowly and go to toilet by my own. It was bit painful to walk but its bearable.

After 7 days I had to fly and attend a interview to get admission in the MBA class. I well managed it and started to join the MBA classes after 1 month of the surgery. So you understand that you will be alright within 1 month.

Doctor told me not to do any stressful work until 1 month, to eat light food for 1 month. Not to have sex for 2 months.

In the mean time I got married, but unfortunately just in 1 year the fibroids grew again, as big as before. Doctor said there is nothing to do other then wait to get pregnant cause second surgery would be very risky (risk of removing the uterus).

Luckily, I got pregnant, now I'm 6 months pregnant with all the fibroids. I hope my baby born in good situation.

Thanks and good luck. You have nothing to worry.

Can anyone please suggest to me any medicine that can melt away fibroid (growth in the ovary) than surgery?
Best answer:
No, there are not.

My Grandfather is dying please help me....?
Best answer:
Hey, i feel you. My dad died of cancer exactly a year ago. Try to keep your hopes up. If he is on stage 4, it's a very little chance he will stay alive. When we found out about my dad's cancer he was already stage 4. Tell him to keep fighting for his life and never give up. I hope this helps. God bless you all.All I can say is to enjoy all the time you have together. My dad was 76 when he took ill and taken to hospital for tests, bowel cancer was found and they tried to remove the tumour but were unsuccessful, soon after he started being sick and his kidneys started to fail and he was in terrible pain, he was in hospital and on morphine and slept most of the time, he also had a bad heart, he was hallucinating and when he could talk he was talking utter rubbish. From his cancer diagnosis till he died was only 6 weeks. You wont have much time left with your grandfather because now that his kidneys are not working it affects all the organs in his body and they will all fail very soon, sorry to be so brutal but you have to face the fact that you do not have much time left with him but he will be going to a place where he will be pain free and looking over you. God Bless.

What are the symptoms of a prolapsed bladder?
Best answer:
The bladder actually droops down into the vagina. Many times, you can see it.
http://www.emedicinehealth.com/prolapsed_bladder/article_em.htm

Hoe long is surgery effective for a prolapsed bladder?
Best answer:
I guess you are a woman? It does not say how long but I guess
what they say here sounds ok:
Prevention
A high-fiber diet and a daily intake of plenty of fluids can reduce a person's risk of developing constipation. Straining during bowel movements should be avoided, if possible. Women with long-term constipation should seek medical attention in order to lessen the chance of developing a prolapsed bladder.

Heavy lifting is associated with prolapsed bladder and should be avoided, if possible.

Obesity is a risk factor for developing a prolapsed bladder. Weight control may help prevent this condition from developing.
http://www.emedicinehealth.com/prolapsed_bladder/page9_em.htm

or here
A prolapsed bladder, uterus, or rectum can occur. This means that part of these organs may slide from its normal position to partial exposure outside the body. A fallen organ cannot repair itself. Contact your healthcare provider as soon as you know you have a problem. watch for signs like:
* urine leakage,
* feeling of a ball shaped formation or pressure in the area, or
* pain or soreness of exposed tissue.

During an exam, you may be asked to cough or push to help show the problem. Tests of the nerves, muscles, and urine will help tell if exercises or surgery is needed. In mild cases, muscle tightening exercises may be all that is needed. Hormones, such as estrogen, are helpful in older women. In serious cases, surgery may be needed to put the organs back into their proper working location. The womb is often removed with this surgery because of the pressure it puts on the bladder. In the older women who may not be able to have surgery, other treatments may be recommended.

There is a lot of info on the web. I guess the main thing is having another baby or heavy lifting are the main causes and if you have anotehr baby or lift heavy thing you probably could exprience the prolapse again.

Please help me, I'm so scared!!?
Best answer:
could be a hernia. don't say it's a cystocoele when you go to a doctor. at your age, hernia is more common. Don't be too scared. But a doctor's appointment would really help relieving your worries. I can't recommend any non- medical treatment, though.I think this is what you have, and you need to go to another nurse, or your own doctor, right away. If they won't examine you, you need to be sure you can explain all the symptoms, and you should also let them know that you think it is the cystoceles. If one nurse turns you down, go to another. You need this looked at!!!dont worry go to a doctor and try to see what is wrong. it is important to go so please do. look, dont worry so much and it might turn out regular or somethingSweetie its ok to be scared,AND the nurse was/is a nut.You are never to young to "have"anything.Just go to the ER of see an OBGYN asap.Like Monday.IF your uterous perforates(sp)you could start heavy life threatening bleedingAlso your bladder could be damaged by simple neglect-not your neglect!.Everything inside is held together by muscle and tendon, they dont need to be overstreched.take care of YOU I'd like to have a wee chat with that "nurse".I'm actually angry.Just have a friend take you to ER okay. Write us back and lets us know your ok,please.Love and Prayers ,J

Severe vaginal irritation, please help!?
Best answer:
That "extra skin" could very well be your hymen. If you're sexually active, I hope you're seeing a gynecologist regularly, and s/he would be able to tell you.

You may be prone to yeast infections. The pain you feel during intercourse is likely your own fluids (more acidic than normal) getting into those tiny little abrasions caused by friction during sex. It stings pretty badly!

Ask the doctor for Fluconazol or Diflucan, perhaps a few months worth. You may be someone who needs to treat yeast on a constant basis.

RESISTANT STRAIN OF CANDIDA ALBICANS CAUSING PERSISTENT VAGINAL THRUSH or DO I HAVE VULVODYNIA? PLEASE HELP!!!?
Best answer:
Take my hand. Now take a deep breath. It's going to be ok.

You have clearly done everything in your power to fix the problem yourself. So we know this is not a lifestyle problem or anything you're doing wrong.

My best guess would be that you have Trichomoniasis. You didn't mention whether they tested you for it or not. If not then please do so. All of your symptoms fit with Trich. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/stds-hiv-safer-sex/trichomoniasis-4282.htm#where

My second best guess would be that whatever it is it's getting passed back and forth between you and your husband. He could have something but not have any symptoms. So just when you start to heal you have intercourse and the bacterial infection is passed back and forth. Abstain during treatments and possibly have him get tested.

What you DO have is Vaginitis. That's the general term for what you're experiencing regardless of the actual cause. Here is information from the best clinic in the country: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vaginitis/DS00255

I don't think you have Vulvodynia, but you can read all the information and judge for yourself. You can print it out and take it to your doctor and ask them: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vulvodynia/DS00159/DSECTION=treatments%2Dand%2Ddrugs

My third and final guess is that there may be some hormonal imbalance going on with you. That can cause all kinds of problems. A physician would need to check your levels and prescribe any necessary medication.

You are not alone. I know it's frustrating as heck and every day is a struggle, but you're a fighter and you can get through this. If you aren't getting anywhere with your doctor then go to someone else, but don't let them send you away without a diagnosis, in pain, and emotionally shattered. Hold on. Okay? (hand squeeze)

okay I read very carefuly have yu checked your blood sugars? If you have a blood sugar reading of over 125 fasting two times in a row you are diabetic if you have a reading of 180 two times in a row after two hours after eating you are diabetic for some reason doctors do not check blood sugar levels as I had re occuring yeast infections. finally hurt so bad I could not sit so went to a womens clinic she was the one that asked if I had been checked I was over 400. you get this under control and your whole body will feel better.

How can you tell if you have a prolapsed bladder?
Best answer:
Usually it's a "feeling" of bulging, drooping, or pressure in the vagina. It can also cause mild-moderate incontinence or leaking, as well as urinary tract infections.

Your doctor can also tell (usually) by careful pelvic examination. You will get the same "feeling" with a prolapsed bladder or uterus. And yes, if the bulge created by either one is significant enough, and is pushing far enough down into the vagina, you would be able to feel it, possibly even see it.Yes and sometimes it is easy to see a bulge of tissue that, in severe cases, protrudes through your vaginal opening. The soft bulge can feel walnut- or one that many women describe as feeling like a ball.
Sometimes there is stress incontinence when coughing, sneezing. A minor prolapse often gives no symptoms.

You can read a lot about it on the linkDoggie, Want to go for a walk?,

The medical term for a prolapsed bladder is cystocele. You may have no symptoms at first or you may have symptoms that include - Increased discomfort when you strain, cough, bear down or lift. A feeling of fullness or pressure in your pelvis and vagina — especially when standing for long periods of time. Pelvic discomfort. A bulge of tissue that, in severe cases, protrudes through your vaginal opening. The resulting soft bulge may feel walnut- or even grapefruit-sized, and often goes away when you lie down. A feeling that you haven't completely emptied your bladder after urinating. Loss of urinary control with coughing, laughing or sneezing (stress incontinence). In severe cases, you may not be able to control urination at all. Recurrent bladder infections. Pain or urinary leakage during sexual intercourse. Sexual dysfunction. When other organs join the bladder in moving into the space in the front part of the vagina, the condition is called an anterior cystocele (prolapse). Diagnostic evaluations include a Q-tip test, bladder function tests and pelvic floor strength tests. Doctors may also use imaging tests such as an ultrasound, MRI or cystourethroscopy.

ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED, IN ANY FORUM AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS ONE. - MANY ANSWERS ARE FLAWED.

It is extremely important to obtain an accurate diagnosis before trying to find a cure. Many diseases and conditions share common symptoms.
