All possible fibroid treatments should be discussed with your doctor to ensure the treatment fits your lifestyle and health habits. Surgical intervention is common if the fibroids are causing problems. Otherwise, there are medications that can help the symptoms, and even some (like Lupron) that can help shrink the fibroids. The only problem with drugs like Lupron is there are possible side effects, and the fibroids usually start regrowing after the drug is stopped.
Surgical procedures for the treatment of fibroids vary in both invasiveness and recovery time. Some are much less scarier than we tend to think.

Obviously, there are different levels of invasiveness. You certainly are wise to avoid hysterectomy! Myomectomy does involve surgery, but only removes the fibroids, so there is much less damage.
I had UAE, and although it wasn't the funnest thing I had done, it worked like a champ, with only a single incision in my pelvic area.

This came out after my UAE, so I don't know much about this. I would really love to hear from someone who has this done! This does look to be completely non-invasive.
